This cutting is dominated by the bulk of the Long Mound which runs diagonally from bottom right to top left. This was the first part of the Mound to excavated, and where the Sacred Slabs on each side were first found (See Plan 1 SW). In the S of the square is the large and rather enigmatic Iron Age 4-post structure E1.
