This cutting represents a clear transition both topographically and archaeologically. It runs down the slope into the Long Mound valley, and the SE part of the square laps onto the mound itself. In the NW, traces of the bank of the Continuous ditch enclosure occur, although the main bulk of this bank is further to the NW.
