4m x 10m cutting to expose the East end of the ‘Short Mound’. The slabs along the edge get more frequent here. It was with some surprise that well-stratified Roman pottery occurs under all of the Short Mound, and there are Roman votive offerings in it. Clearly this is much later than the apparently similar Long Mound.
