The CH86 cutting was extended to examine the prominent notch in the Iron Age rampart at this point, between two trees. This turned out to be a period 4 entrance trackway, partly worn and partly cut through the wall. At least one step was engineered to ease transit. It is now known to date from the Late Iron Age.
