Original
This transect was the first exploratory cutting on the Long Mound. It was opened in 1975 to determine whether the mound was prehistoric, and thus worthy of proper excavation, natural, or a much later pillow mound used for breeding rabbits. 13 seasons of excavation of the unique ritual monument followed from 1977.
