This is the area immediately to the rear of the rampart. A large four post structure (C6) at the N of the cutting, presumably a guard tower, dates to the early hillfort. On the plan, the two areas outlined in dashes are the remnants of cuttings AI and AIX from earlier seasons. Between these is a possible roundhouse (D10).
